International Literacy Day

As you know, my team and I love to read books. We love to read books with others too. But did you ever take a moment to think about what a privilege it is to read? Many of us take reading for granted. If you take a look at literacy rates around the world, around 758 million adults don’t know how to read.

It makes me sad that there are so many humans around the world that don’t know how to read. It makes other sad too. That is why UNESCO instituted the International Literacy Day on September 8. This year is their 50th anniversary of trying to promote education and awareness around the world. They hope that they can implement a program for all youths to be literate by the year 2030.

In the meantime, if you know someone who isn’t a great reader, take the initiative to try to help them! Share your favorite book with them (like Philip & Phoebe!)
